Sandman's powers are a part of Geokinesis, however, he can control the element he wields to much greater effects.

-Sand Control: Sandman, like his name suggest, can control the small granular materials made of rock and minerals, basically, controlling sand. The reason he controls only sand is because his level of mental control over the geological elements is focused only on small sized objects, but with greater control.
He can control sand to a wide range of effects, ranging from small pinpoint attacks to massive sand waves that engulf any opponent. He can also form shields and weapons that are super hard by condensing the sand. He can also envelop people in sand and crush them with pressure
While one would assume that when out of his element he's at a disadvantage, that is not so. He can use even the smallest amount of sand to crush minerals and rocks nearby, instantly creating enough sand to use for massive effects.
--Sand Form: Sandman can turn his very body into sand, allowing him to simply let opponents hit him to no ill effect. He can use his sand form to attack, and to create sand using the above method. He loosen his body slightly and then moving it, allowing him to travel across the air. However, should he come into contact with water, his Sand form will become wet, allowing him to be struck. Sandman spends most of his time in a constant semi sand state, where his body seems normal but is in reality sand. This allows him to counter most surprise attacks

Bio: Jim Manson, an ex military soldier, lived with his grandfather as so he could be around to help him when need.  One day Jim arrived home to find his grandfather murdered, shot in his sleep.  As the murderer made a break for it, Jim pinned him up.  Turning his free arm to sand and forming a spike, her took the murderers life.  After that, Jim didn't know what to do. Seeing a lost soul with great talents, Nightmare recruited him to his group.
