-Medical Genius: William is one of the most brilliant doctors in history, and is recognized world wide as an authority on infectious diseases and genetic conditions. He is also a very skilled surgeon.

-Hand to hand combat: When he was in Asgard, Filipe though him fighting skills to go with his carbon form. He doesn't actively fight, so he isn't as skilled as other members, but can hold his own.

Powers:
William is a powerful mutant and is considered an omega level. He can manipulate all things biological down to the genes that compose the information of the body.

-Biokinesis: William is capable of controlling the biological structure of his own and other people's bodies. Theoretically capable of rewriting someone's genetic structure at will. He can produce biomolecular energy to affect all organic matter he touches and his own. He can feel the very cells that compose his body and the bodies of others, feeling them dying and dividing continuously.

--Body Control: He can control the human body by altering the genotype of the individual.
---Carbon Hardened Form: His most used aspect of his self body control. He hardens the carbon present in the skin, effectively turning it into an armor as strong as diamond, and completely fitting of his body. He can survive falls from great heights, and most physical blows mean nothing to him. He takes this form to signify is use of powers for attack, something he doesn't do while in normal form.
---Power bestowal and removal: He can take away and give powers to others, and even himself, by giving or taking the X-Gene and manipulating how it is expressed. He is limited by his understanding of the powers he is bestowing, but he can remove any power.
---Shape shifting: By altering his genes, he can change such things as hair color, eye color, implant physical characteristics and other things. He can do this to both himself and others.
---Slowed Aging: By controlling his cells' division, he can make it so he doesn't age as fast as he should.

--Healing: William's power allows him to heal physical damage done to his body or the bodies of others
---Tissue recreation: He can heal wounds and recreate organs and limbs by stimulating cell growth in the area to astonishing speeds. This does not, unlike Peter's power, cause the victim to lose years of his life due to Hayflick limit, because William is altering the very limit with his control of the cells
---Disease removal: By stimulating the leukocytes, or white blood cells, to extreme levels, William can eliminate any pathogenic substance, be it organic or otherwise, from the system of a living being. He needs to be able to identify the substance in order to produce the right stimuli for the cells in question, his vast medical experience coming in handy
---Blood loss reversal: By stimulating the Bone Marrow, he can create erythrocytes (red blood cells), as well as the other blood components and replenish the bodies blood volume. He needs the patient to ingest water as he heals though, as he can't replenish the plasma half of the blood.

--Body Destruction: William can use his powers to affect the body in a number of dangerous ways. He normally takes his carbon form while doing it to signify his use of powers for killing and attacking.
---Organ destruction: He can destroy organs and other of the bodies components by merely touching the opponent
---Tumor creation: He can create inoperable tumors in other people in order to kill them
---Nervous system control: He can manipulate the nervous system in order to turn off selective body parts, or the whole body.

Bio: William was born to a normal family. Very young, her was a gifted student, and followed Medicine as a career. One day, while still in college, he meet Fawkes, who was one his travels. They had a long talk about evolution and ethics, while William ignored not only Fawkes's, but his own nature.

When he became a doctor, he was talented, even majoring in surgery. However, he made a mistake on his first solo surgery, and his patient almost died. Almost, because at the last second, William awakened his latent skill, and unknowingly healed him.
Yamairo became aware of this, and brought him to his group. He was surprised to meet Fawkes again, but happy to see his friend

He mostly sat in the side lines, and healed those in need. Through much of the first adventures, even with his developing skills, he couldn't do much else.

However, during the training in Asgard, he developed a technique that involved hardening the carbon in the body. This now gives him a near invulnerable form. During the tournament in the first round he used this new technique to easily defeat  Jason. He used it again against Harry but lost to the latter, having his nerves severed and becoming incapable of using his skills. His soul was taken but returned later. He became an important member to the team and with Dave's help he studied Alex at the base and managed to learn how to stop the symbiotes and remove their bonding ability.

He mostly helps out train the new recruits, but again was forced to fight, this time against the demon army of Black Heart. During the Secret Wars he was nearly killed by Travler but saved by Milo. Later he joined Pro-Registration at first only to meet up with Fawkes and learn about their war. He left with Fawkes after the war and Aaron, Jargon and Alex were sent to recapture them.

When Legacy attacked, he mostly helped heal the injured while staying out of the fighting.
With Akatsuki's attack on Genosha, he was forced to sit out of the fighting again, but was soon target because of his healing powers. He was revived in the end by Namini.
When the Predators came looking for Sandra, he helped coordinate the attacks and served as the doctor
He was kidnapped during the Phoenix Alliance arc, so he couldn't do much.
When the SXM were divided into squads, he was named as the doctor of the island and as such his duty is to stay behind and heal possible injured

During the next few arcs, he again was mostly helping heal the injured members as they needed. However, during Decimation, he played a pivotal role. He started up a hospital as a way to put his power to use and get the SXM some good fame. However, he was kidnapped by the Priest, who attempted to use his power to further his plans, the revival of apocalypse. He was freed at the end
During the Legacy Virus arc, he got the SXM to help him recruit Virus, and together, they managed to develop a cure for the plague that had haunted the community for so long. As they were debating the fastest way to spread it, Surfer came and healed all the sick SXM and mutants worldwide. Although the cure proved unnecessary, it still showed his medical genius and contributed to the medical community in the future.
During the Hunter war, he served as the medic, until the mansion was attacked. He tried and help defended it, but failed despite his carbon armor defending him. Filipe saved the mansion though.

Ever since then, he's remained on Genosha as a doctor. During Dark Reign, he was sucked into the spacial bomb and imprisoned early on, to be freed later.
After the SXM reclaimed Genosha, he became the Chief of Medicine of the Genosha hospital, and left super heroics to second.

He remained as Genosha's doctor throughout the Dark Month, No More Heroes and other such events. He mostly retired for good from superheroics, but the other League members still trusted his judgement. During the MRD crisis, he willingly put on the monitor to keep his job at Genosha Hospital, and as a result was thrown in jail when the Brood arrived, as he couldn't fight back. After being released by the heroes, he's gone back to Genosha. After the HYDRA invasion, he has formed a group of volunteer mutants that handle first response to superhuman or mystical attacks, with both a healing and teleporting division.
