Personality: He's aloof and simple. He lives by a notion that everything requires efforts, that to gain something, one must give up something of equal value, essentially the basis for his power. He shares a close bond with his brother, but they often end up clashing, mostly because of what Ray chose to do with his powers.
When his brother died Simon gained a different outlook on life, wishing to make sure nothing of the sorts ever happened again, even if through force.

Skills:
-Scientific genius: In order to use his powers Simon has self taught himself in both chemistry, physics and biology. He's studied by himself since a young age, and as such his knowledge far surpasses even some adult professionals. He's capable enough to quickly perform the necessary evaluations during fights in order to perform alchemy, showing quick thinking and great knowledge.

-Hand to hand combat specialist: Since even before joining the SXM Simon was trained in hand to hand so has to better utilize his powers. He can fight numerous non powered humans bare handed without resorting to his power most of the times. Since joining the SXM and the X-Force, his prowess has increased from contact with Ledge and Keel.

-Weapons expert: He trained in use of various melee weapons mostly because he forms them quickly using his alchemy. He's especially good with using the blade he forms on his automaill arm. Since joining the X-Force he's gained a more capable knowledge of weapons, and can also use firearms, but chooses not to.

Equipment:
-Mechanical Arm and Leg (formerly): Both his right arm and left leg are made of a special metallic alloy, whose mechanism takes advantage of the still existing nerves at the tip of his shoulder and leg stub, so as to move almost with the same dexterity as a normal limb. Made from special carbon alloy by Elizia, his girlfriend, they can be easily altered with alchemy to be as hard as diamond, and he can shape the arm's top forearm plate into a blade for attack. The strength of the arm and leg are much higher, allowing him to lift much greater weight, punch and kick with much more damage, and if using only is left leg, he can even jump at higher heights.

-Celestial arm and leg: After becoming the new Apocalypse, Simon went off into space, and returned with an upgraded version of his arm and his leg. They are now both made from celestial technology and possess technology far superior to Earth. Their response time is now superior to those of a human arm. The strength of his right arm is now such he can punch hard enough to wound the Hulk, or block the Hulk's punches. He can still alter the arm into various shapes, more so than before.

Powers:
Simon is a mutant with the power to use ambient energy for small scale matter transmutation. He has self taught himself in the magecraft of alchemy to make full use of his powers.

-Energy Manipulation: Simon can control and manipulate ambient energy around him to break down the bonds between atoms and reform them. This is a very specific mutation, a far reduced version of the usual energy manipulation involved in matter rearrangement.
--Life Force Transmutation: Whenever Darksteel, his Horsemen of Death persona takes over, he can turn nearby life force into usable energy that allows him to perform the full version of matter manipulation, like his brother. People around him weaken and eventually die as he uses his power, lasting longer the more stamina they have.

-Molecular Manipulation (Death Persona): Simon can use life energy to bipass the laws of equivalent exchange of alchemy, thus having full control of molecules. He can mentally control, transform, and manipulate the molecules of all matter and energy. He can animate inanimate materials by causing constant mass movement of molecules: for example, he can make a brick building walk. He can rearrange molecules so radically, he can use his power to reconfigure all forms of matter and alter them into different substances and forms (such as, for example, turning air into glass), and can change matter into energy and back again. He can create force fields and energy blasts, and also open up worm holes through hyperspace and traverse them, thus traveling faster than light. He is very powerful and can affect a large area entire islands or even on a global scale. When he transforms substances it remains that way unless he repairs it or others with matter altering powers. He can affect all forms of matter mystical, cosmic, and indestructible. He can accelerate molecules to disintegrate living creatures or accelerate matter. However, if he runs out of nearby life force, his powers slowly reverse to those of his regular persona.

-Alchemy: Due to his primary mutation, Simon can easily use a discipline of magecraft that normally uses mystical energy, known as alchemy. This process follows the steps of:
Comprehension: Understanding the inherent structure and properties of the atomic or molecular makeup of a particular material to be transmuted, including the flow and balance of potential and kinetic energy within.
Deconstruction: Using energy to break down the physical structure of the identified material into a more malleable state so as to be easily reshaped into a new form.
Reconstruction: Continuing the flow of energy so as to reform the material into a new shape.

Alchemy, unlike matter manipulation, is bound by the laws of physics. It is, to an extent, a science and as such is subject to certain laws and limitations, all of which fall under the concept of Equivalent Exchange: "In order to obtain or create something, something of equal value must be lost or destroyed.
This normally requires two parts:
The Law of Conservation of Mass which states that energy and matter can neither be created from nothing nor destroyed to the point of elemental nonexistence.
The Law of Natural Providence which states that an object or material made of a particular substance or element can only be transmuted into another object with the same basic makeup and properties of that initial material.
Simon can skilfully use this power to manipulate his surrounding environment into his personal weapon. Ranging from shields to spears, and even manipulating the air into time bombs or agents capable of knocking others down. Simon's own imagination is uncanny enough to give him a near limitless range of options.

Bio: When Simon was young, he discovered that his brother Ray had powers. He developed similar ones, and developed a close bond with his brother over their mutant status. One day, an accident caused Ray to lose control and turn Simon's right arm and left leg to nothing. Saving him from death, Ray found he was unable to recover Simon's limbs. He then used his own intelligence to create a mechanical arm and leg, and attached them to Simon. After, Ray left and joined the Agency, telling his brother he was working for the government. Simon, who believe their powers shouldn't be used for that way, developed a rivalry with his brother over it.
After Ray was killed, he was given the news he died in service, although he never believe he was dead because he knew his brothers powers.

When Shawkun organized the tournament, he witnessed the first fights, and developed an interest in William, who seemed to have the same powers has him. After the tournament, he tracked down SXM and challenged William, quickly discovering his true strength.

He was chosen to help them fight Samuel's group, and had a fight with his brother after discovering he was alive. Although he lost, he proved to be one a capable fighter.

He has since joined the SXM, and started helping train new people at the school when the outbreak of evolved humans occurred. However it was calmed down thanks to the German Formula and he helped face Blackheart and his invasion.  He defeated Ray and later when Controller attacked he helped Anna, Alisa, and Chulance fight Filipe.

When the Civil War started, he stayed anti registration, and him and his brother helped the others fight off the government
When Legacy attacked Genosha island, he was the one that allowed Samuel's group an escape. Although most of them were caught, his efforts did allow Catherine to escape.

After that he moved in with his brother, and stayed out of fighting for the most part.

When his brother died by the hands of Akatsuki, it greatly changed his views on the world. As a result, he, along with Peter, joined X-Force.
After joining, his first mission lead him to deal with Deidara of the Akatsuki, who at the time was working as a freelancer (him at the rest of the crew). He meet a girl named Elizia Rockbell, a genius mechanic and engineer, that volunteered to fix his arm after it was busted up during the fight
Afterwards, he helped stop the trouble in Amestris that involved the strange homunculus Father

During Decimation, he became Apocalypse's Horsemen of Death, Darksteel Alchemist

His next major appearance was in the Hunter War, as he helped defend the coastline against the Hunter ships. He was badly hurt, his automail wrecked. yet he still managed to pull through the first assault. During the counter attack, he went to Miami to free the city from the Hunters.

After the Hunter war, Simon remained with the X-Force. During Dark Reign the team was forced to fight against HAMMER agents and keep on the run. After, Simon and Erica were ordered to extract a girl named Mariana. After the event, Simon and the girl bonded, and the girl came to look at him as a sort of brother, much to both his surprise and chagrin

He once again rejoined the new incarnation of the X-Force. He stays with the it throughout their missions. At some point, he is attacked by a strange giant, and it triggers is Death persona. However, this goes unnoticed by the heroes as he's whisked away by Ellen, before being rescued by Frank and Erica.

During the Brood Wars, he fights and resists MRD and the Brood invaders along with his team.
After, the X-Force move to Genosha, where they attempt to purge it of MRD influence and restore its status as a mutant safe haven
