Personality: He's a calm, almost robotic individual with a single minded drive to complete the mission at hand. He's always thinking one step ahead and considering all possible dangers, and can be paranoid as a result. He's very similar to Samuel in cynicism and lack of trust in mutant and human cooperation, but he wont harm innocent people to further his goals, human or mutant. He's a good field commander and can inspire people working under him, pulling out of them acts of loyalty and bravery they themselves didn't think possible.

-Master Strategist: Fawkes is arguably the greatest strategic mind of the SXM; managing to counter most attacks by even the greatest military minds. He is highly respected as a source within the SXM, leads the Covert Ops squad as well as the independent X-Force. He keeps a cool head at all times, and states that the key to a good tactical mind is sharp and fast thinking.

-Master hand to hand fighter: Fawkes is experienced in several martial arts, including American kick boxing, karate and various sects of kung fu, and his own personal fighting style called Close Quarters Combat.

-Master weapons wielder: Fawkes can wield both firearms and blades with extreme precision and accuracy. He has extensive knowledge of different weapons and their workings

-Master spy: Fawkes is a master spy and information gatherer, normally able to infiltrate organizations and get the information out quickly and effectively. He can create a facade and easily fool other people into a false sense of security, making him a lethal assassin as well.

-Invisibility: He can become invisible at will. He can still interact with the surrounding or be heard. It only affects the visual sense. He's as mastered the ability, and can stay invisible indefinably, even in his sleep. He can turn visible and invisible on reflex. He can turn other people invisible with him if they touch him

-Telepathic Blocks: Both Milo and James have set up telepathic barriers in his brain to shield information about the X-Force and the SXM respectively, and as such even the most skilled mind readers find it hard to extract the information against Fawke's will.

Bio:
Fawkes was born at the end of the old world order, in Richmond Virginia. He grew up during the cultural revolution and the height of the Cold War, and was merely a child when he witnessed the Cuban Missile crisis. His family was extremely conservative and his father was a WWI and WWII veteran. At some point in his teenage years, he manifested his powers, and became a sort of urban legend in his home city as a vigilante and enforcer criminals could not see, known only as Mister Invisible. After he finished high school, he joined the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover. After less than a decade, he was already hailed as one of the top FBI agents, and considered by many in line to be a possible candidate for future director. Fawkes however, aspired to join the CIA. It was at this point, at the beginning of the 80s, he met Samuel Ventro. A mysterious man the same as Fawkes, the two got along right away, and Samuel helped him progress in his career and join the intelligence agency.

Barely a year into their friendship, Samuel figured out Fawkes is a mutant, or evolved human as they were called then, and shows him his own powers. Working together with Samuel's friend Hank Pengrove, the three form a network of super humans that becomes the first iteration of the Shadow X-Men. People like Gilroy Holden, who would later become a seasoned member of Scotland yard, Rogyu Karuya, a powerful yet gentle member of an assassin's family, Angel, who would later marry Samuel Ventro, and many others. The group works around the globe to contain and assist evolved humans with their powers and problems, as well as many times clashing with the mysterious agency, which unbeknownst to Fawkes was ran by their friend Blot. During the decade of their work, Fawkes rises to become a top member of the CIA, and works missions around the globe, and many times comes upon other events such as alien incursions, demonic attacks and cosmic entities.

At some point, near the very end of the decade, after Milo's birth, a confrontation between Vinlo and Samuel lead to Samuel discovering the Agency and becoming its new leader. He attempted to get the First Class to join him, but they refused, and lead by Fawkes defeated him and the Agency. Unfortunately, Samuel survived, and reformed the Agency.

Fawkes spent the next twenty years using all his resources to hunt down and stop the Agency around the globe. Unfortunately, the super human heroes had been scattered, a few of them killed under their own circumstances. Fawkes resorted to his CIA and FBI contacts to foil the organization wherever he could, not knowing Samuel was behind them. As he immerses himself in his mission, he cuts off most contacts in his life, and becomes almost a machine. However, it is at this point he meets Hasaka Yamairo, Ryogu Karuya's biological son. The young man had developed powers just like his father, and carried the old ideal of a super hero team. Fawkes, and then Hank, help gather a new group and train them, and eventually, Fawkes meets Milo Ventro, Samuel's son.

Fawkes mostly stayed in the side lines from then on, confident the new generation could handle this, and helped train the groups new members. The death of Hank at the hands of Zulan served to remind him of his own coming mortality. Still, he assisted where he could, disappearing for days at a time in an effort to track down contacts and acquire information useful to fight the enemy or solve the problem at hand. He finally saw the defeat of the Agency and the death of Samuel, mourning his old friend

He was glad when Kathy pulled through and later joined the SXM. He went to Asgard but than after that disappeared as usual only to return for the tournament. He lost in the first round, to Milo. His fighting spirit prevented him from actually giving up, and he tried to use Milo's old weakness, although it proved infective. His soul was taken, but was later returned to him. He once again became the leader of the team after the Symbiotes took over Yamairo and some other members. He planned to help start a new X-Force group with Milo, and Alex, and once again took an active field role. He helped Harry and Milo steal the Symbiotes from the Government.

He worked with the X-force group in secret killing Mutant Terrorists and later learned from Anna there may be another reason she serves  Samuel. He later helped in fighting against the Demon invasion. Later on he was warped to the Secret Wars and assisted Yamairo in leading the team.  After  Milo became the new leader Fawkes  was head of Stealth missions and no longer the co leader. Fawkes vanished from the SXM now focused on X-Force till  the Espada showed up and wreaked havoc. He helped evolved humans escape Genosha  and finally during the Superhero Registration Act he vanished, reappearing with William at the final moments.

He was next seen during the invasion of the Skrulls and Legacy arc, helping the SXM coordinate the attacks.
When Namini attacked the island, he was forced to watch as his friend were murdered.
In the after match of the Akatsuki attack, he was left as the only one of the trio that originally came up with the idea of a group to help others like them.
He helped coordinate the defense of Earth against the attacks of the Predators.

During the Phoenix Alliance arc, he was mostly seen coordinating the SXM again, and helping them deal with the increasing attacks by the evil group.
When the truth about the Hunters came out, the main SXM leaders decided to divide the team. He was placed as leaders of the covert ops group, and named Anna the second in command and main leader in is absence. His squad is the only one with a sub leader because he mist divide his time between the SXM and the X-Force.

During the next few arcs, he couldn't do much but help coordinate efforts. He was also busy directing the X-Force as they fought the 7 Sins in Amestris.
During the Avalanche arc, the string of events were set in motion because he choose to let Anna lead her first mission. It turned out to be a trap and she was captured. He made all efforts to recover her. When she went missing at the end, he was forced to keep leading the SXM Spec Ops team in field missions
During Decimation, he again stayed in the sidelines as a commanded, and during the Legacy arc, he helped the group gather intel on the Red Room
As the Hunter War arrived, he fought along his X-Force to defend the shore. When it was destroyed, he was saved by Peter, and sat the rest out due to fatigue. It also served as another reminder of his age.

Fawkes, 5 months later, has been selected as a member of the Illuminati. Ever since then he's became a much more leader type figure, rarely stepping out into the field himself. Occasionally getting involved, such as when HAMMER hunted down mutants during the Dark Reign, he still shows off his commanding persona.

His most recent appearance was at the Illuminati meeting to decide the new member.

After the events of the Dark Month and World War IV, the later of which he was involved in as he attempted to apprehend Afansas before he could use his weapons to start it, Fawkes retired from the X-Force and the Illuminati. Somehow, nobody is able to locate him, with the possible exception of Milo.

He showed up briefly when Ben cast a world wide illusion on all super heroes. After the illusion ended, nobody got any information on where he was located.

He returned once again during the BROOD invasion. Afterwards, he remained with the X-Force and began attempting to remove MRD from Genosha. He hasn't explained why he's back, but he seems to want to take an active hand in teaching the next generation.
