Equipment:
Several high tech weaponry mostly reverse engineered from aliens met during the agencies existence. The ODP have mac cannons that fire magnetized rounds capable of wiping out most enemy vessels.
Defensively, they possess shield technology extremely powerful and again taken from other species.
In terms of transportation, the possesses hover technology, and a fleet of around 60 working battleships, most of the retrofitted from Hydra technology. They flagship of the fleet is "In Amber Clad"

S.W.O.R.D. is a military organization with a counter-intelligence wing. Its purpose is to deal with extraterrestrial threats to world security, as well as function as the interstellar representatives of planet Earth in both diplomatic and military engagements

The organization current counts around two thousand members, operating the ships and serving as investigators into alien incursions on Earth

There is also the Spartan Unit, an elite group of soldiers outfitted with genetic enhancements and powerful body armor, created to engage in ground battle with alien invaders.

History:
The group was once one of the most powerful organizations along with S.H.I.E.L.D. before the First Hunter War. Unlike S.H.I.E.L.D., it took much longer to be reformed, finally happening in the wake of the end of Dark Reign due to the Phalanx invasion. The group's leader was chosen based on past experiences, and KGB director Ivankov thus became the new head

In the group's short existence since it's reformation, they have already constructed a planetary defense system know as the Orbital Defense Platforms, 300 in total (in reference to the famous 300 spartans). The stations have enough power to defense Earth from possible new invasions, and the design and concept are based on the formed incarnations' HQ, the Peak Orbital station. Ivankov decided to create more than one this time, and named the main HQ the Cairo station. Athens is the main combat station and has the most combat potential

Recently, the group has captured a race know as Absorbiums who were causing radiation poisoning on Earth with their sudden appearance. It seems that they have discovered Milo belongs to this race. After a run in with them, the group manage to survive the attack, but lose custody of the aliens.

Their next greatest threat was the Galaxy War, an erupting conflict between the Shi'ar Imperium and the Kree Empire, and a Phalanx hive that had allied with the Kree. Earth was caught in the middle of the hostilities and forced to defend itself. On Milo's suggestion, they allied with the weakened Skrulls, and thanks to a combination of subterfuge and the help of the powerful heroes of Earth, they not only fended off the war, but defeated both sides and forced a peace treaty. Even since SWORD has become a force to be respected.

Unfortunately, later down the line, they were assaulted and infiltrated by the brood and almost completely destroyed, but after Hydra's defeat, Elena gifted them half the space fleet of the organization which they used to rebuild their numbers

Fleet Organization

The SWORD fleet is organized in a similar manner to the Kree due to influence from Son-Aris in the building of its hierarchy. It places emphasis on powerful barrages and quick blitz attacks, with emphasis on support by superhuman individuals. However, influence from Earth marine doctrines are also incorporated. That leads to larger ships that then deploy numerous smaller craft, with the larger vessels providing fire support for both the smaller craft and the individual superhumans. Currently, they rank around 60 ships, 30 of which are battleships. Battleships serve the double function of heavy vessel and carrier for the lighter assault ships, and typically outweigh the Kree ships, but not the Shi'ar ships. The remaining 30 or so ships are frigate and destroyers, which usually serve as support and monitoring.

So far SWORD has named two battleship models. The Putin-class, the original vessels first constructed, of only very few remain due to the brood invasion, and the Stark-class, Hydra invasion ships that were completely overhauled by Stark&Morisson Industries

Currently there's two more classes in building, the Richthofen-class, and the Morrison-class, both of which will serve different purposes

Notable ships

In Amber Clad:
The main vessel of SWORD and one of the few surviving Putin-class ships, it was the first vessel to ever see space battle and participated in the Galaxy War, the Annihilation Wave and the Brood Invasion.

The Resilience
The flagship of the Stark-class battleships, it was retrofitted from one of the more advanced Hydra vessels and filled with state of the art weaponry and tech from both Stark and Richthofen. It's also the largest ship in the fleet, comparable in size to Shi'ar vessels

Pillar of Iron and Steel Will
The two first of the Richthofen-class, they are the main ships of what is to become the Spartan fleet, the main assault fleet of SWORD. It will also incorporate Morrison-class vessels which are still in construction. The biggest ships built for the space fleet so far, they stand at around the size several football fields and match even the mighty Shi'ar vessels.
